History

Seminole Shooting Stars Soccer Association (SSSSA) was incorporated as a 501(c)3 organization on April 20, 1993.  We have both recreational and competitive soccer programs for children aged 4-18.  Each season, boys and girls learn soccer skills, teamwork and the importance of an active lifestyle.  Our volunteer coaches, paid trainers and Board Members ensure that each child has a safe and fun season.

As we enter the 2017-2018 Recreational and Competitive seasons, Seminole Shooting Stars Soccer Association is beginning a new chapter.  We are marking our 25th year by bringing both our Recreational and Competitive programs under one name, Seminole FC.  Our organization has a strong history and mission in our community.  As we unite our two programs under one name, we continue in our mission to give Pinellas County youth the opportunity to experience the joy of youth soccer at all levels.  We are thankful for our volunteer coaches, trainers, team parents & managers, board members and especially soccer families who have made our organization what it is today.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why are you changing the name from Seminole Shooting Stars Soccer Association to Seminole FC? I thought they were two different organizations.

Shooting Stars and Seminole FC have always been one organization, under the same non-profit status.   Shooting Stars is our Recreational program and Seminole FC is our Competitive program. By bringing our two programs under one name, we reflect the unity of our programs in cultivating the physical, mental and emotional development of youth in soccer at all ages and levels of competition.

How will this change the soccer instruction and practices?

The Recreational program will continue as it always has to provide an introduction into the sport, advancement of skills and opportunity to play with other youth at all levels.  The Competitive program will continue to grow our advanced players skills through instruction, training and higher levels of competition.

If we’ve changed names, why are there still two logos and names online, etc?

We realize this is a transition and it will take time.  We are now known as Seminole FC, but will keep the Shooting Stars logo visible online, etc to lessen any confusion during the transition.  The full transition will take place towards the end of the season.

We’re a Recreational soccer family.  Why do our uniforms have the, Seminole FC logo?

Both programs are now under the same name,  Seminole FC.  Therefore, both Recreational and Competitive players will wear the Seminole FC logo.

But, we liked the Shooting Stars name and don’t want to change.

For 25 years, the Seminole Shooting Stars Soccer Association has grown and thrived in our community.  Transitions are hard, but in this case very necessary.  Our united Seminole FC organization, under one name, will reflect to the community at large our organizational commitment to cultivating the physical, mental and emotional development of youth in soccer at all ages and levels of competition.

Let’s GO Seminole FC!
