📋 Role Overview
The Team Parent acts as the central hub of communication between the coach and the parents. Your primary goal is to handle the administrative and social logistics so the coach can focus entirely on training the players.
⏱️ Timeline of Responsibilities
1. Pre-Season (Getting Organized)
- Meet with the Coach: Discuss communication preferences, tournament schedules, and any specific help they need.
- Gather Team Roster: Collect parent names, phone numbers, emails, and player jersey numbers.
- Create a Group Chat / App: Set up the team on an app ?? for central communication.
Mid-Season (Weekly Game Logistics)
- Send Weekly Reminders: Send a text or app alert 2–3 days before every game with the field location, arrival time, and weather updates.
- Manage the Snack Schedule (when applicable): Create a rotating schedule for parents to bring halftime fruit (like oranges) and post-game snacks/drinks. **Ask about food allergies
- Weather Alerts: Coordinate with the coach and league regarding rainouts or field closures, and push urgent updates to parents immediately.
3. End-of-Season (Celebration)
- Plan the Team Party: Coordinate a date, time, and location (e.g., a local park, pizza parlor, or pool) to celebrate the end of the season.
- Coach's Gift: Collect a small financial contribution from parents (totally optional for them) to purchase a thank-you gift or gift card for the coaches.
